The "Between the Bridges" development in Abu Dhabi is situated on a long narrow site overlooking a broad waterway which separates Abu Dhabi Island from the mainland.
The site is approximately 900m long and varies in width from 80m to 130m. The entire western boundary fronts onto an existing beach, which is divided in six equal sections by rocks lined groins. The southern boundary overlooks a 100m wide canal providing water access to inland properties to the east.
This is a mixed development that will take the form of a low rise beach resort, comprising a 214 five-star hotel, 161 furnished apartments, and a retail area, which acts as a link between the two main components, the hotels and the apartment. The architectural is influenced largely by the rich & traditional architecture found in Abu Dhabi and its surroundings.
Our scope involved developing the way-finding signage and environmental graphics solutions for the development. The architectural silhouette of the Middle Eastern dome was the key inspiration for the design. Materials, font type and colours were specially selected to best complement the overall identity and environment of the resort.
