The site was an existing 4,000 square foot floor plate at Suria KLCC with an unusual and challenging geometry.
In choosing materials for the finishes the designers looked for reference and material related to the products and heritage of Royal Selangor.
There was an active transfer of technology from the pewter industry to the interior design to create an architecture that expresses innovation. This is typified by the entrance water feature which incorporates special designed pewter tiles in combination of stacked glass and stainless steel. This creates a sense of movement and dynamism that can either compliment or contrast to the shop front depending upon the actual display. Other materials draw on contemporary themes with light coloured timbers juxtaposed with glass, spay paint and acrylic.
Comyns is a diffusion brand of Royal Selangor which deals predominantly in silver. A “shop within a shop” approach for these silver products was adopted, which offers a more personal one-on-one service.
The flagship store showcases the look for all the future Royal Selangor outlets and designed so that the concept translates well into shop lot, concession stores and overseas franchises as well as conventional mall scenarios.
