Ming Ren for Genting Boulevard
Genting Highlands, Malaysia
The decor of Ming Ren created a modern yet Oriental fine dining restaurant.

The design intention was to keep the space plan simple and give a feeling of open dining. The prestigious location, adjacent to the Genting Boulevard (a major walkway), meant a bold, contemporary feeling was needed for this up market restaurant.

Take away counter and the Chinese antiques showcase created visual transparency between the restaurant and the boulevard.

Oriental influences are evident in the muted colour scheme, with subtle accents on the chairs, carpets and simple ceiling detail composed of hexagonal rings. Chinese-influenced red lacquer wall, huge silver sliding door embossed with cloud effect and bamboo cages are unique elements at main entrance.

Bird cages and slate evoked an exterior impression of an old Chinese mansion. Lightings at private room change the mood and ambiance with interplay of white (occupied) and red (unoccupied) light. Combined with lighting effects from molded red dragon on the tinted mirror walls accentuated the overall fine dining mood and experience.
